The 6 Basics of Mini Prepper Insurance

The 6 Basics of Mini Prepper Insurance

Well, we’re finally less than 3 weeks away from the 2016 Election for President among other important election contests. Will the winner for President be Hilary Clinton, Donald Trump, or maybe Gary Johnson? I’m sure all of you have your opinion on the candidates and which one will ‘serve us”. As an American, we have been given the right to vote, and I ask that you exercise this right and vote in this election.

Ok, enough of the political stuff.

I recently read an article titled “Apocalypse Insurance”. What the heck is that? We insure our homes, our cars, our health, and even our lives. But, do we have insurance for hard times? What if times were as bad as the great depression? What kind of insurance would cover that? What about rioting in the streets of America?

Several of my friends, myself included, have stashed away, what we call our get away acre, if things do get really bad. Such as banks limiting the amount of money you can withdraw from your account, or trucks unable to deliver groceries to the store, and worse, rioting in the streets. Will any of this happen, no one really knows but why not be a little prepared if it does. Become a ‘mini prepper”. Start by getting prepper insurance. What is that?

My six basics of mini prepper insurance:

  1. Stash some cash (not in the bank)
  2. Extra food and supplies
  3. Extra water
  4. Shelter
  5. Energy
  6. Self defense

As a mini prepper you can start with some practical things that you can do without investing a lot of money. When you go shopping, buy a couple of extra cases of water, canned goods, cereal, and toilet paper. Build up your reserve over time and rotate them to keep things from going out of date. The key is to build up your supply a little every month.

My Grandparents lived through the depression. They lived in a small house but it had a pantry. A place where they stored an extra month or two of essentials in case of emergencies. Our generations haven’t experienced this in our lifetime, but we may. So start storing.

Another good idea is to start a garden, learn how to grow those fresh vegetables, spices, and herbs. They sure are tastier than store bought. My daughter and her husband have started their first garden this year and love it.

I’ll cover some more stuff on mini prepping next week. In the mean time start your planning for some lifestyle changes. A  little “mini prepper insurance”.
