Buying Land In A Socially Distant World

BY BOB PEARSON

In a recent survey, the respondents gave the following reasons for buying land:

1.Camping, Rv’ing 30%

Owning your own land sure beats having to go to a campground for some rest and recreation. Two weeks ago, I spent 3 days along the Colorado River. The campgrounds were full with lots of activity from 6am to 10 pm. It was a lot of fun, but forget the privacy! On my normal 6am hike, I started through the campgrounds toward my goal of reaching the nearby dam. As I walked through the Campground, at 6am, the music was loud and varied. It felt like a dozen concerts going on at once. No quiet time in this campground. No thanks! Hey, I like my music too but not at 6am. Once leaving the campground, the hike along the river was very enjoyable.

Last week, I went to view and take pictures of some of our new offerings in Apache County and spend some time in Show Low. What a difference! Quiet and peaceful. All I could hear was birds singing and the wind through the trees. My 6am hike was rejuvenating and set the tone(quiet) for the rest of my day.

2.Hiking and outdoor enjoyment 23%

This is my favorite

3.Hunting 28%
